What Each Chinese Content Platform Is For

IN ONE SENTENCE
Chinese content platforms are not interchangeable — different readers, different citing AIs, different suitable formats — so one piece everywhere is waste.
Chinese platforms are not interchangeable: they serve different readers, get cited by different AIs, and suit different content formats. Posting the same piece everywhere wastes capacity and captures none of their individual strengths.
OUR POSITION
Allocate formats by two axes — who reads it, and which AI cites it — rather than by ease of publishing. One study can land on several platforms, but the presentation has to adapt to each.
How the four platform types differ
WeChat-ecosystem publications: readers skew toward decision-makers and practitioners, suiting methodology and judgement; heavily weighted inside that ecosystem's AI.
General Q&A communities: readers arrive with a question, suiting complete answers to specific questions; cited across several AI platforms.
Developer communities: readers are technical decision-makers, suiting reproducible technical detail and measured data; especially important for B2B technical products.
News and information platforms: suited to studies with original data and reportable developments; more influential for Baidu's AI.
Mapping formats to platforms
For one study: method and reproducible detail in developer communities, conclusions to specific questions in Q&A communities, judgement and implications in WeChat publications, and the data itself on news platforms.
⚠️ This is not retitling and reposting. Readers on different platforms care about different things, and straight reposting fits none of them.
One rule
Number definitions must be identical across every platform and traceable to the original source and date. Multi-platform distribution carries the highest risk of figures losing their qualifiers after a few retellings.
